David Baker regained the Oxford Times Cup after beating three-times champion Simon Aries at Cowley Conservative Club.
Baker, who last won the title in the 2002-3 season, having lost out to Aries in the previous campaign.
This time around, Baker took an early 100-98 lead which he maintained throughout.
He made breaks of 20, 24, 27 and 41 to lead 206-163, 301-270, 406-363 and finally 500-414.
Aries could manage only a 33 break in reply.
In the final round of league matches, newly-crowned Division 2 champions HCC A defeated the Division 1 champions Witney 2-1.
Terry Walsh (+80) gave the hosts HCC a great start when he beat Terry Cook (+30) 200-129, with breaks of 21 and 25.
Gavin Wright (+20) levelled for Witney when he got the better of Geoff Barratt (+100) 200-183.
In the deciding encounter, captain John Williams (+80) led HCC A to victory when he out-scored the promising Chris Warren (+100) 150-124, making a useful 24 break.
A feature of this last league match saw the existing highest breaks for Section 2 and Section 3 players broken.
Richard Connerty (+80), of Oracle made a 39 to take the Section 2 highest break, though he lost heavily to Peter Fenn (+80), of Ashton.
Mark Boyson (+100) of Thame A made a 34 in his match against Roy Gascoyne (+100) of Eynsham.
The most wins in Division 1 were by Gavin Wright (+20) of Witney, with 17 wins and three losses.
