Ben Moses bagged a brace as Nelson moved a step nearer the Premier Division championship with a 7-2 midweek thrashing of Star Wanderers.
John McMahon, Liam Gurdev, Dean Simms, Mark James and Craig Hambridge were also on target as they took a four point lead over previous leaders Highfield. They have played one more game than the Bicester-based side.
Star's replies came from Tom Jerred, who stabbed in a rebound following Tom Mason's run and shot, and John Crump lobbing in from 40 yards.
In the other midweek game, Jody Morris hammered a hat-trick as Rose Hill got back to winning ways with a 7-2 thrashing of Rover Blackbird.
Neil McMahon (2), Tyronne Brackett and Colin Ryan got the others.
On Saturday, a hat-trick from John McMahon helped Nelson hammer his former club Rose Hill 8-4.
McMahon and Liam Gurdev put Nelson in control, before goalkeeper turned striker Darren Kinch, on as substitute, scored his first goal for three years with a diving header.
McMahon completed his treble, with Liam O'Callaghan (2) and a late penalty from Michaes Herbert completing the rout.
Highfield had retained the leadership with a 3-2 win against Mansfield Road.
A Dave Igless double and a Sam Donaldson penalty appeared to put Highfield in control, only for Mansfield to hit back with two late goals to set up a nervy finish.
In the other weekend games, strikes from Terry Stockford, Jefferson Harriet, Michael Yearwood and Paul Bough saw Cold Arbour to a 4-1 victory against Rover Blackbird. Former Arbour player Sammy Gray netted Rover's reply.
Wolvercote kept up their quest for the Division 1 crown with a 6-3 victory against Railway Wheatley, thanks to a hat-trick from Matthew Spooner, a brace from Daniel Leggett and an Andy Potter goal.
In Division 2, ex-Oxford United reserve player Terry Muckelberg fired a treble as Cold Arbour Res completed the double against Bullnose Morris with a 4-0 cruise. Substitute Leodis Williams wrapped up the scoring with a 20-yard strike.
Berinsfield moved a step nearer to lifting the the Jack Sadler Cup after beating Chalgrove 2-1 in the semi-finals.
They now meet Oxford Black Boy Supporters, the 3-1 conquerors of Barton United, in the final at Oxford City on May 7 (kick-off 10.30).
