LITTLEMORE RFC celebrate their 30th anniversary this weekend with festivities including a ten-a-side tournament.

A dinner dance takes place on Friday night, while the tens event, featuring two Oxford University teams, kicks off at 12.30pm on Saturday.

Club president Tim Stevens said: "In the summer of 1976 a group of like-minded individuals, headed by local PE teacher Lynn Evans, founded Littlemore Rugby Football Club.

"I am pleased to say that the club is still going strong 30 years later.

"For the first nine years the club based themselves at the George public house in the heart of Littlemore village where Jim and Barbara Adams were there very congenial hosts.

"In 1985 the club opened their very own clubhouse a converted prefabricated classroom on the Peers School campus where they remain today.

"Littlemore were the first rugby club to receive a licence to serve alcohol on school premises, albeit only outside of school hours!

"Peers School provided the core of players for the initial team and it still acts as a feeding ground in 2006.

"We would like to welcome as many former players and friends at the club on the Saturday."
