MIKE Giddings's late try saw Harwell edge out Didcot 13-0 in a scrappy BB&O Division 1 South derby and finish third.
Despite being unbeaten at Christmas, they could not quite keep pace with Abingdon and Broadmoor Staff.
A pushover try for No 8 Simon Ritson and a Ryan Hodnett penalty was all Harwell had to show for their dominance of the first half.
The result was in doubt until 72 minutes when Ritson broke from the back of a scrum, and fed substitute flanker Mike Giddings, who drove over from close range.
Chinnor 3rd landed the club's third title of the season after thrashing Beaconsfield 44-0 in Division 1 North.
