Hook Norton were good value for the points in five-goal Division 1 West thriller.

They took the lead after only seven minutes when Ryan Breslin's cross-shot looped over the head of visiting keeper Stuart Thompson before dropping in.

Vale levelled on 21 minutes when Mike Kenny handled inside the penalty area and captain Tom Ritchie fired home the equaliser from the resulting spot-kick.

Hooky were quickly back in front, when Vale failed to clear a ball inside their own penalty area, allowing Robbie Canaway to spin and fire low into the net.

Ten minutes before the break, the home side went further in front when Pete Moulder crossed from the left, and top-scorer Richard Northover slotted home.

The second half was a repeat of the first, with both teams looking for more goals.

However, the only one to arrive came from the visitors six minutes after the break when Richard Willis headed home a corner.

Letcombe secured the points with a 2-0 win against Malmesbury Victoria.

Letcombe keeper Stuart Game was called upon to make two excellent saves early on, while Malmesbury's Andy Mitchell shot wide.

Letcombe took the lead midway through the half, Iain Whatley volleying home following an in-swinging free kick from Richard Claydon.

The home side increased their lead early in the second half, Whatley providing a perfect pass for Claydon to race clear and side-foot the ball home.

Mark Rees fired just wide when well-placed, while Letcombe had Game to thank for an astonishing double save.

He threw his body bravely at the ball to block a shot six yards out, only for it to rebound to a Malmesbury forward.

Game still somehow managed to dive low to his right to reach the second shot with his fingertips and hang on to the ball.
