Oxford University face an uphill task to save the match against Middlesex in The Parks after the visitors took control on the second day.
Resuming on an overnight total of 309-5, Middlesex moved on to 395-6 declared, James Dalrymple falling four short of a century.
Johann Louw then claimed 4-24 as the students were shot out for just 185 in their reply, and by the close, Middlesex had extended their lead to 266, reaching 56 without loss.
