Didcot Town got their hands on the Hellenic League Premier Division championship trophy for the first time in 52 years, following their 3-1 victory over fellow promotion rivals Abingdon United yesterday.

Having clinched the title with a 1-1 draw at Bishops Cleeve on Saturday, Didcot were presented with the shield in front of a bumper crowd of 600 at the npower Loop Meadow Stadium after easing to a comfortable success.

There was little to choose between the teams before Didcot took the lead in the 34th minute.

Stuart Beavon combined with Andy Parrott, and Ian Concannon swept the resulting cross home from close range.

It was 2-0 to Didcot on the stroke of half-time. A defensive mix-up let in Beavon, who managed to force the ball home.

The game was settled when Parrott scored Didcot's third on the hour, following terrific work by Paul Powell.

United reduced the arrears in the final minute through Nathan Woodley but this was Didcot's day.

A Goal from 40-year-old assistant manager Kevin Barry in the second minute of injury time gave Chipping Norton Town a well-deserved point in a 1-1 draw against Highworth.

Highworth took the lead on 43 minutes through Terry Bohane and that seemed enough as the game reached the 92nd minute.

However, Barry had other ideas and when Wayne Vincent's cross fell to him eight yards out, he coolly slotted the ball home to clinch a vital point.

Witney United withstood a late Henley revival to take the points in a 3-2 win.

Goals from Steve Knight and John McMahon put the visitors 2-0 up at the break and it looked all over when Tom Smith made it 3-0.

However, two goals from Hancock caused them a few anxious moments.

Adam Giles bagged a first-half brace as Wantage Town gave Hungerford short shrift with a 3-2 victory.

Sam Belcher completed the scoring after the break.

Headington Amateurs kept up their push towards runners-up spot in Division 1 West with a 2-1 win against Harrow Hill.

Mark Evans gave them a first-half lead, but Paul Frowen levelled early in the second half.

The winner came courtesy of Harrow keeper Andy Reid, who allowed Robert Parsons's hopeful cross to go straight through his hands into the net.

Letcombe gave their opponents a fright, before losing to a spectacular own goal in a 2-1 defeat by Wootton Bassett.

Nathan Hall put the home side ahead, but Letcombe levelled when the home keeper failed to deal with a corner and Sean Webb nodded the ball into the empty net.

The winner came early in the second half following a corner. The Letcombe defence had three chances to clear before Iain Whatley struck it sweetly into the top corner of his own net.
