Bicester Town's GLS Football Hellenic League Division 1 East title hope were dented as they were beaten 3-1 at Badshot Lea on Saturday Steve Miles headed home a Paul Spittle corner five minutes before the break to put Ardley ahead.

But Blake equalised on the hour, and then Smith put Badshot Lea ahead in the 75th minute, and Hichin sealed Bicester's fate six minutes from time.

Skipper Danny Dixon's late winner gave relegation-threatened Clanfield a lifeline with a 1-0 win in Division 1 West.

Dixon struck in the 88th minute with a low shot from 20 yards to secure his side three valuable points.

Hook Norton came off second best in a nine-goal bonanza as they lost 6-3 at Cirencester United.

Phil Hall fired Cirencester ahead with a shot from an acute angle after three minutes.

But Hooky were level five minutes later when Steve O'Rourke smashed in a shot off the underside of the bar.

O'Rourke then pounced on a rebound from a Robbie Canaway free-kick in the 40th minute to put the visitors ahead.

Cirencester were back on level terms four minutes later when Ian McSherry lobbed goalkeeper Lee Farrow from just outside the area.

Gary Probert capitalised on some slack Hooky marking to make it 3-2 to Cirencester in the 48th minute.

But, two minutes later, Hooky were level again, Richard Northover tapping home after Mike Kenny's shot rebounded off the crossbar.

However, Cirencester then took a grip of the game with Hall netting in the 55th and 68th minutes to complete his hat-trick, sandwiched around a Ben Potter strike on 63 minutes.
