FRILFORD Heath junior Katherine O'Connor made her international debut for the Welsh Girls team at the St Leonards Trophy in Scotland last week.
O'Connor, 16, finished in eighth place with scores of 80 and 78 on the St Andrews Links course, beating the current English Girls champion in the process.
The Oxfordshire girls' captain is now hoping to be selected for July's European Young Masters in Austria.
Meanwhile, her Frilford clubmate Eddie Pepperell was part of a five-strong England Boys team taking on Sweden in a friendly international at Meon Valley, Southampton yesterday.
Also in the team was Jonathan Bell (Wentworth) whom he beat to win the Reid Trophy at Bristol & Clifton last August.
*BURFORD amateur Gerry Shields has qualified for the regional final of Europe's biggest pro-am competition, the Lombard Trophy.
He will tee up with club professional Michael Midge at Frilford on June 28 where a luxury five day trip to Portugal is up for grabs.
Shields earned the chance to partner Midge by winning Burford's qualifying competition with a nett score of 69.
