Headington Redefield A have established themselves as the county's strongest club by winning the Five Disciplines League.

Having won the title for the last two seasons as Redefield, a merger has done little to stop their progress.

They swept aside Feathers 123-96 in the final match of the season, in a winner-takes-all clash to determine the champions.

Feathers, who went into the match 21 points behind, started brilliantly when Jonny Bougard and Hayley Davies beat Nick Raven and Annie Richards 15-6, 15-9.

They then totally wiped off their deficit when Emma Martin saw off Caroline Ashdown 15-12, 15-10.

But the men's singles and doubles were devastatingly Headington Redefield's.

Dave Soanes won his singles 15-3, 15-6 and then partnered Ian Ross to drop only six points in their doubles.

Although the women's doubles was halved, the damage had been done and Redefield emerged comfortably despite their worrying start.

These two teams were the only ones to break the 1,000-point barrier in any division over the nine rounds.

* Oxfordshire 4th finished their Inter-County League season with a morale-boosting 9-6 victory over Gloucestershire 3rd.

Colin Campbell remained unbeaten with wins in his singles, two doubles with brother Jonathan, and a mixed with Jo Burch.
