Banbury's trio of Greg Moon, Mario Rosso and Alan Prew reached the last eight of the English National Triples Championship at Melton Mowbray before bowing out.
Facing Stephen Ellis's North Walsham side in the quarter-finals, skip Moon trailed 12-5 with just six ends left.
The Banbury side finished with a flourish with two trebles, a double and a single, but the Norfolk men clung on to edge through 16-14.
Moon's trio had fired a ten-shot salvo to reach the last eight.
Trailing Paul Maynard's Essex County 10-7 after seven ends, the Banbury rink cut loose, winning four successive ends including two four-shot hauls to race into a 17-10 lead.
Despite Essex County rallying, Moon's men stayed in control to win 19-15.
Carterton went out in the last 16 of the English National Fours Championship at the same Leicestershire venue.
Skip Baden Sparkes and his clubmates Stuart Richens, Andy Wise and Robbie Clanfield led Andy Squire's Falcon, Chelmsford, quartet 15-12 with just four ends left.
But the Essex men swooped with a double, a treble and a single, to snatch the verdict 18-16.
Sparkes's side had flown out of the blocks to beat Adam Tidby's East Dorset side 26-13 in the previous round.
They rocketed 10-0 clear in the opening exchanges to set up a comfortable victory.
