OXFORD City began their Shaw & Co Oxfordshire Foursomes League Section 1 title defence with a comfortable 2-1 win at home to Ellesborough.

The visitors got off to a good start when Dean Eldridge and Mike Armitage saw off Ian Bound and John Summers 2 & 1.

But David Summers and Mark Hall levelled with a 5 & 4 victory before Larry Holder and Adam Wootton's 3 & 2 success sealed the points.

The other Division 1 clash saw Neil Thornton and Andrew Helby in excellent form as Chipping Norton defeated Studley Wood 2-1.

They thrashed Austin Siggers and Darren Drew 7 & 6 before Tom Woolley and Mark Stanton completed the win in match three.
