Josh Huggins grabbed a brace as Didcot Town beat Leamington 4-2 in a thrilling Zamaretto Southern League Premier Division clash at Loop Meadow Stadium.
Huggins gave Didcot an early lead and Josh Dutton-Black added a deserved second midway through the first half.
Leamington’s Luke Corbett reduced the arrears before Morgan Williams restored Didcot’s two-goal advantage.
An action-packed half ended with Corbett making it 3-2 with a penalty.
Despite being under pressure for long spells after the break, Didcot added a fourth with 15 minutes remaining through Huggins to cap a memorable night.
Victory should be enough to preserve Didcot’s Premier Division status.
Banbury United will be without Nathan Haisley when they travel to leaders Farnborough tonight.
The midfielder is ruled out after suffering a hamstring strain during Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Bedford Town.
Manager Billy Jeffrey is expecting a tough game against the promotion favour-ites.
“They are maybe getting nervous after they lost on Saturday and with Nuneaton putting the pressure on,” he said.
“So they will be anxious to get back to winning. But it will be a good test for our young players in front of a big crowd. I’m looking forward to it.”
Banbury Utd: from Murrell, Stanbridge, Martin, Milner, Learoyd, Coleman, Benjamin, Stone, Shariff, Staff, Taylor, Hilliard, Redknap, Ashton, Foster.
