Midfielder Chris Hargreaves says Stevenage Borough’s unbeaten home record gives Oxford United a great incentive on Tuesday night – to become the first team to win at Broadhall Way since Wrexham triumphed 2-1 in November 2008.

Since then, Borough have recorded 21 wins and nine draws from 30 league games at what is now known as the Lamex Stadium.

But Hargreaves has a good record at Stevenage, for both United and Torquay.

And he said: “We’re more than up for it and looking forward to it.

“We’ve been looking forward to this one for a long time.

“Them not having lost at home has got to be all the more incentive for us to win. It’s a great stat for us to break, and they’re not unbeatable, no team is in this league.”

It’s one of Hargreaves’s former Oxford United teammates who has been in such inspired form lately for Stevenage.

The pacy Yemi Odubade scored another brace at the weekend in the 3-0 win at Crawley, to take his season’s tally to 16 goals.

Odubade, who scored 31 goals for Oxford between 2006 and 2009 before being released and snapped up by Borough boss Graham Westley, had previously had Chris Beardsley as his regular striking partner.

But Beardsley wasn’t so good at Grays last week, and Tim Sills impressed when replacing him for the second half.

Former U’s striker Sills also played well at Crawley on Saturday, so seems certain to keep his place.

Mitchell Cole, who hit a six-minute hat-trick at Eastbourne four weeks ago, played only 55 minutes at Crawley.
