Witney head coach Phil Harper hailed his team’s tenacity as they defeated Wallingford to reach the Oxfordshire Cup final.
Harper said: “I thought they were tremendous all through the game. We didn’t give an inch.
“The tackling around the rucks was very good, which seemed to be where they were looking to attack.
“We had a couple of chances we didn’t finish, but the try we scored, we took very well.
“They were organised in defence. We weren’t going to walk over them.
“When they were under pressure, they didn’t give any penalties away.
“They had a few players missing, but you can only play who you face.
“We had four masseurs up here on Saturday night to get the players ready.
“We will enjoy our day up at Iffley Road. It will be a great end to the season.”
Wallingford head coach Chris Norrington said: “I’m proud of our players. It was a fantastic effort.
“I think we wanted to win more on Saturday than Sunday, but I can’t fault their commitment.
“Credit to them, the best team won.
“It was pleasing to see what a big scalp Wallingford is now.
“The defence was a big plus, but we didn’t show enough creativity.”
