Swindon Sup’marine 2 (Hopper 39, Stanley pen 42)
Oxford City 4 (Savage pen 65, pen 75, Douglas 76, Sandy 90)
Former Oxford United midfielder Dave Savage was spot on as Oxford City completed a remarkable second-half comeback to beat Swindon Supermarine in the Zamaretto Southern league.
With 25 minutes of Saturday’s Premier Division clash left, City were trailing to two first-half goals.
But two penalties by Savage led to a stunning turn-around, which was completed by Elliott Sandy’s injury-time strike.
There was little sign of the goal feast in a sterile first half-hour as both sides were content to contest the game in the middle of the park Supermarine eventually took the lead after 39 minutes. City keeper Richard Knight came out of his goal, but failed to gather a centre, giving Luke Hopper a simple task to score.
Three minutes later, Swindon doubled their score as Andy Gunn was adjudged to have fouled Ash Edenborough in the area.
Nick Stanley score from the spot to give the home side acomfortable interval lead.
City frittered away a good chance when Jamie Brooks delayed his shot, giving home keeper Matt Bulman an opportunity to get back and save on his goaline.
Then after 65 minutes, City themselves were awarded a penalty when Leigh Henry fouled Jon Douglas.
From the spot-kick, Savage made no mistake, still giving little indication of a City revival.
Ten minutes later, a second penalty came City's way after Sandy had been hauled back.
Savage again showed his prowess from the spot to level the scores.
Just 60 seconds later, City went in front.
James Faulkner made a run down the right before finding Douglas, who added the finishing touch In stoppage time, City completed the comeback as Faulk-ner set up Sandy, whose well-paced shot was beyond the reach of Bulman.
