Didcot Tn 3 (Williams 16, Huggins 52, Draycott 85)
Merthyr Tydfil 0
Didcot eased their Premier Division relegation worries with a comprehensive victory at the Loop Meadow on Saturday.
Town were guilty of missing countless chances, particularly in the first half, and the margin of victory could have been far greater.
Josh Dutton-Black and Morgan Williams missed great chance when clear before the latter put Didcot ahead.
Dutton-Black combined with Josh Huggins, the ball eventually finding its way to Williams six yards out and he turned and shot home past keeper Andrew Delve.
Namesake Andy Williams missed with a header from Ian Sampson’s free-kick before Morgan Williams nodded another chance inches over the bar from Dutton-Black’s cross.
Sampson was denied by a diving stop from Delve, and then a desperate challenge from Cortez Belle manage to deflect Alex Stanley’s goalbound shot just wide.
And it was more of the same after the break with Dutton-Black crashing a shot against a post.
Moments later, however, Didcot doubled their lead. Dutton-Black fed Huggins and he applied a cool finish to cap an impressive home debut.
Michael Bartley almost made it three, but was denied by the outstretched hand of Delve.
Matt Trottman spurned Merthyr’s only chance with a header from 12 yards.
It was no surprise when Didcot made 3-0 five minutes from time when Huggins fed substitute Mark Draycott, who fired low into the far corner.
Didcot Tn: Trott, Sampson, Hopkins, A Williams, Stanley, Heapy, Dutton-Black, Huggins, Bartley, Mortimer-Jones, M Williams (Draycott 70).
Attendance: 211.
