Bedford Tn 1 (Daniel 58)

Banbury Utd 1 (Taylor pen 78)

Banbury extended their unbeaten run to six games thanks to Jason Taylor’s late penalty against Premier Diviison strugglers Bedford.

After an uneventful goalless first half, Bedford took the lead, following good work from Ian Draycott who beat Banbury keeper Joe Murrell wide on the left. His cross left Craig Daniel with the easiest of tap-ins.

Banbury had to be more positive and, following a bout of substitutions, they equalised.

Joe Coleman took a long throw from the right which led to defender Eddie Lawley handling the ball inside the penalty area. Taylor made no mistake from the spot.

Banbury could have snat-ched victory late on.

Taylor chested the ball into the path of Lewis Hilliard, but ‘keeper Mike Armitt was equal to the effort.

Then, in the third minute of injury time, Eagles defender Stuart Wall saved his side with a fantastic tackle which deflected Hilliard’s goal-bound shot.
