Bridgwater Tn 1 (Orchard 28)

Abingdon Utd 1 (Mills 63)

Abingdon United came from behind to hold high-flying Division 1 South & West side Bridgwater to a draw in muddy conditions.

Early on, Abingdon had a penalty shout turned down after Jon Mills had been bundled over in the area.

James Organ fired wide from a Ryan Curtin free-kick, before Bridgwater took the lead midway through the first half.

Steve Orchard fired home from 20 yards to give keeper Sam Warrell no chance.

The second half saw both teams working hard in a tight contest on an awkward surface.

But it was Mills who ran on to Jon Gardner’s through ball, rounding the keeper, before slotting home the equaliser.

Warrell had to make a couple of important saves as Bridgwater pushed forward looking for a victory to cement their play-off cha-nces, but Abingdon came home back up the M5 with a deserved point.
