There were wild celebrations at Launton as they recorded their first win of the season after 23 Division 1 West games over eight months.

Their early endeavours were rewarded when a spectacular 40-yard strike from Lewis McGowan beat the keeper.

Then, against the run of play Rocks equalise through a Marcus Taylor goal, which was a result of a defensive error.

In the 70th minute, the hard-working Simon King rifled home a great goal to give Launton the lead Despite increased Tytherington pressure the score remained the same much to the Launton’s relief.

Despite a poor performance, Letcombe still managed to stretch their unbeaten run to six games.

The only goal of the game came after nine minutes. Lyle Giffiord was tripped by Ben Rhodes as he raced into the penalty area.

The referee initially gave a free-kick, but changed his mind after consulting his assistant, and Adam Pendell scored from the spot.

Slimbridge 4 (Hine 4, Langworthy 44, Philp 53, Wilton)

Clanfield 1 (Mays 31)

Clandfield failed to dent Slimbridge’s title hopes.

The home side went ahead when Rob Hine converted a cross.

Craig Mays brought the visitors level finishing off an excellent move.

Slimbridge were lucky when Ross Langworthys deflected shot beat Clanfield keeper Chris Brain.

Even better fortune came their way early in the second half when a controversial free-kick was headed home by Adam Philp.

The victory was sealed when Lewis Wilton latched on to a poor headed back pass to complete the scoring.
