Oxford United looked as though they had it all to do at half-time today as they were being held 0-0 by Gateshead at the Kassam Stadium while title rivals Stevenage and Luton were winning impressively.
Two goals from Yemi Odubade put Stevenage 2-0 ahead at Crawley, while Luton were 7-0 up against Hayes & Yeading at the interval.
The U's found it hard to create many chances in their first half, James Constable having an effort deflect for a corner, and Sam Deering unable to turn the ball in under pressure three yards out following Rhys Day's backheader.
