Banbury United boss Billy Jeffrey has praised the character of his side, and called for more of the same at home to Premier Division high-fliers Cambridge City on Tuesday night.
His comments followed Saturday’s victory against Clevedon, in which Banbury battled back from 3-0 down to win 4-3.
“We were awful – we could have been four or five down in the first 15 minutes,” said Jeffrey, whose side have won their last four games.
“But we got one back and did really well in the second half. We got out of jail a bit and won it with a great goal from Declan [Benjamin].”
Jeffrey, who gives a late fitness test to Jack Ashton (shin injury), added: “It was exciting stuff, but if we defend like that against Cambridge we will be severely punished because they are very good from set pieces.”
Oxford City keeper Richard Knight plays his first game for three months when they travel to play-off chasers Halesowen Town.
The former Oxford United stopper, who has recovered from a thigh injury, joins new signing Delroy Gordon from Rugby Town, who was sent off on his debut for a professional foul in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Truro.
Manager Mike Ford said: “We signed him on Friday just in time for Saturday. He’s a good Southern League defender who will provide good competition for Andy Gunn and Jon Douglas at the back.
“I have no qualms with the sending-off.”
Meanwhile, David Perpetuini has been released.
Abingdon United give a late fitness test to Pablo Haysham (calf) ahead of their home game against Hungerford Town in Division 1 South & West.
On Saturday, they ended a seven-match winless run with a 4-1 victory against Andover.
Stuart Hole is set to return for North Leigh’s trip to bottom club Bracknell after missing the last three games with a groin injury.
