Defending ladies champions Nuffield Bar kept up their hopes of retaining their ODDA Premier Division title for the sixth season in a row with a hard-fought 5-4 victory against Butchers Arms.
They got off to a bad start, with Maggie Dexter-Naylor and Greta Britnell putting the hosts into a 2-0 lead.
Nuffield hit back to level at 2-2, thanks to wins for Kim Ledbury and Cindy Chalmers.
Sam Merrifield restored Butchers’ lead when she beat Hazel Prowton, only for Pat Newman to level when she got the better of Sue Poyser.
Nuffield’s fightback was completed when they won the pairs 2-1.
Premier Section leaders Florence Park Community Centre A thrashed their clubmates Florence Park B 8-1.
The A team took all singles games courtesy of wins from Natalie Greed-Roberts, Angie Pointin, Clare Bywaters and Carol Harwood, Jo Gleed, and Tina Hamilton.
The B team got their only point in the pairs when Lin Mason and Jackie Merritt beat Greed-Roberts and Gleed.
B team’s star player was Shannon Neal, who rattled off a maximum 180 in her defeat by the unbeaten Clare Bywaters in the singles.
Blackbird Bar were crowned Section 1 champions after a stunning 9-0 win against basement team Quarry Gate C, with wins from Chris Thompson, Lorraine Singleton, Shaz Thompson, Sue Smith, Angie Turner and Sue Simms.
East Oxford Conservative Club took a giant step towards the Section 2 championship with a hard fought 6-3 victory against the visiting Gladiators Social Club A.
The result puts them five points clear of second placed Berinsfield Community Centre who fought back from 3-1 down to secure a 5-4 victory against South Oxford Social Club.
The battle for the Section 3 crown looks like going to the wire.
Leaders Nuffield Lounge A defeated Nuffield Lounge B 6-3 to move seven points clear at the top, though they have played more games than their main title rivals.
Quarry Gate B are the Section 4 champions despite slipping to a 5-4 defeat away to Gladiators Social Club B.
