James Constable twice went close for Oxford United but they were being held goalless at half-time by Tamworth.
Constable made a big difference to the U's as an attacking force, though, and Franny Green was also impressive.
Both keepers made good saves to keep the game goalless, while Rhys Day had a "goal" from a header at a corner ruled out for pushing.
