Zamaretto Southern League
Bedford Tn 1, Oxford City 1
Former Oxford City player Ian Draycott grabbed an equaliser five minutes from time to deny Mike Ford’s men victory in the Premier Division on Saturday.
City looked to have done enough for victory, only for Draycott to score from a set-piece to secure a share of the points for the home side.
The visitors were quickly into their stride, forcing a corner from their first attack.
City had the edge going forward, although Bedford saw chances from Graham Clark and Callum Lewis go begging.
The nearest the home side came to scoring was following a corner, when keeper Jonathan North claimed the loose ball after a goalmouth scramble.
The best move of the game saw several City palyers involved in a neat passing move, only for Jamie Brooks to hit his strike straight at the Bedford keeper.
But just after the hour, City went in front.
Elliott Sandy knocked the ball forward and Lee Steele pounced to put the ball into the net.
City were looking solid, until Draycott fired home from a free-kick into the area to deny City victory.
Oxford City: North, Ballard, Perpetuini, Savage, Malone, Gunn, Harding (Brooks 54) Sandy, Douglas, Steele, Davis. Subs not used: Moses, Mead.
Attendance: 226.
