Zamaretto Southern League
Paulton Rov 0, North Leigh 1
MATTY Taylor headed his seventh goal in four games as North Leigh earned a fourth consecutive victory to extend their unbeaten run to 11 league games in Division 1 South & West.
The visitors were quickly into their stride with Ben Reardon and Simon Futcher combining to set up Taylor with an early chance.
A lofted free-kick from Futcher fell to Karl Dodds, who saw a close-range effort blocked, while Taylor’s pace took him past two Rovers defenders, only for his cross to be scuffed wide by Futcher.
Although Paulton started brightly after the break, they never really tested Adam Lonsdale in the North Leigh goal.
And North Leigh responded with their best spell of the game.
Taylor’s shot on 55 minutes was deflected wide, before the same player broke the deadlock.
Stuart Hole’s in-swinging free-kick was met by Taylor and his powerful header flew past Kyle Phillips.
Futcher and Reardon both went close, while North Leigh were also denied a penalty as Taylor was clattered from behind.
Substitute Chris Allen brought a fine save from Phillips ten minutes from time, before Paulton’s Matt Cooper was denied by a diving Lonsdale near the end.
North Leigh: Lonsdale, Hole (Hutter 77), Caton, Futcher, Huxley, Dodds, Reardon (Allen 80), Burnell, Taylor, McCabe, Jackson. Sub not used: Saunders.
Attendance: 189.
