FRANNY Green, given a shock recall to the side, fired Oxford United into the lead against Kettering Town at the Kassam Stadium.
Green, chosen up front alongside Jack Midson, with James Constable still nursing an ankle problem, and Matt Green relegated to the bench, struck on 36 minutes.
Lewis Chalmers knocked the ball forward, Sam Deering flicked it on with his head, and Green reacted quickly to poke it over outrushing keeper Nathan Abbey.
Kettering boast the best away record in the Conference, and they gave little away at the back.
