OXFORD Division champions Drennan GOT Baits produced a magnificent performance in the the Angling Times Winter League semi-final on the Kennet and Avon Canal in Bath, writes ANDY WEBBER.
They finished second behind Diawa Gordon League, who amassed 51 points. The Oxford outfit scored 53, beating Kamasan Starlets on section countback.
Drennan have now qualified for the final on the River Nene in September.
The semi-final was a dour affair on a hard day, with sub-zero temperatures and easterly wind, plus a clear canal.
But despite one blank and a last place in section, Drennan managed to qualify for the second year in a row.
Steve Johnson finished fourth individual.
- THE 12th World Carp Championship is coming to Linear Fisheries Stanton Harcourt complex from October 7-10 this year, which is quite a feather in their caps.
For more information, take a look at www.linear-fisheries.co.uk Talking of Linear, I have just received my copy of the Richworth Linear 2010 magazine, which is packed with information and colour photos.
Although I am not into carp fishing, I still find it a very interesting read and the bait adverts help to me know what’s on the market and what’s catching.
