Oxford Boxing Academy’s teenage prospect, George Stevens, was on top form when he stopped Martin Clarke at Hatherley Manor Hotel in Gloucester.
Stevens, 15, who recently gave up a promising rugby career with Wasps to concentrate on boxing, was quickly into his stride.
He caught Clarke, of the host gym, with some beautiful combinations from both hands.
In the second round, Clarke realised he was no match for Stevens’s superior fire-power and resorted to holding tactics.
A right cross, followed by a left hook, forced the referee to administer a standing count to Clarke.
The onslaught resumed soon after the count and a thundering left hook to the body dropped Clarke to the canvas.
There was no need for the formality of the count, as the referee waved his arms indicating the end of the contest in favour of Stevens.
Oxford Boxing Academy head coach Faz Keyani said: “I had been in bed all day with mild flu, but had promised George weeks ago I would be in his corner for this fight.
“I was pleased with the early result, as I was back in bed soon after!”
