Oxford University coach Des Brackett could not hide his frustration at his side’s narrow defeat.
And Brackett felt the decisions that cost his side victory, were incorrect.
“I cannot fault the effort put in by any one of my boxers,” he said.
“I can accept last year’s whitewash when we didn’t prepare right, but this is hard to take.
“I don’t think that Cambridge would have grumbled if they had left here having been beaten.
“For six months all my guys have done is train hard with this day in mind. And with the crowd right behind us, we deserved to win this.
“I’m just gutted for everyone. Two bout verdicts changed the whole outcome and we have come out on the wrong side.”
