Masons A stormed into the semi-finals of the Johnsons Buildbase Oxford & District League KO Cup by beating their B side 4-1 in the second leg for an 8-2 aggregate victory, writes PETE EWINS.

Mick Murphy (7,400), Dave Rose (7,560) and Alan Lowe (8,890) were in great form to take the first three games.

A fine performance by Ernie Smith (12,420) made it 3-1, but Martyn Wood (6,140) had the last word.

Masons now meet Didcot Conservative Club in the last four.

Kennington Club are also through to the semis after a 4-1 home second-leg win over Democrats Club.

Kevin Godfrey (15,090, break 11,480) and Mark Trafford (8,710, break 8,390) put the home side 2-0 up.

Terry Green (7,060) made it 2-1, but Ian Gordon (8,270) and Steven Sheard (14,600, break 10,220) completed an 8-2 aggregate success.

Kennington take on Vikings Club in the semi-final after they knocked out Cowley Workers Club 4-1 in their away leg, completing a 8-2 overall victory.

Mike Jones (4,060), Alan Oliver (6,040) Alan Lacey and Bob Allsworth won for Vikings.

Dave Bartlett provided Workers’ crumb of comfort with 9,050 against Ian Moss.

In Group B, Marlborough Club captured their second home leg 4-1 against Dolphin for a 7-3 aggregate victory.

Chris Plant (3,680), Arthur McIntyre (3,840-2,640), John Scoones (3,980-3,900) and Sonia McIntrye (3,450) reeled off the first four games.

Mellissa Stanbridge play-ed brilliantly to score 8,230 in the final game, but it was all to no avail.

Marlborough will play Gladiators Club A in the semi-final.
