Faringdon Town scored twice in the last five minutes to beat fierce rivals Saxton Rovers 3-2 to progress to the semi-finals of the North Berks Charity Shield, writes PHIL ANNETS.
A Martyn Hathaway double and a Peter Sloane strike did the damage for Faringdon, with Wayne Waldron and Paul Churchouse on target for Saxton.
Tommy Cooke scored a last-minute winner for Wootton & Dry Sandford who also booked their last four spot in a 4-3 victory at Didcot Casuals.
The sides had been locked at 3-3, Dave Humphries, George Casserly and Josh Nicholls netting for Wootton and Tom Fisher (2) and Ryan Tyler’s header making up Didcot’s tally.
Long Wittenham Athletic cruised past Botley United 5-1, thanks to doubles from Tim Barton and Andy Cooper and a goal from Steve Molloy. Mark Nicholl replied.
In the North Berks Cup, Division 2 side Benson AFC reached the semis after winning 3-2 at home to Division 3’s Bampton Town, with goals from Damian Rigozzi, James Oliver and Nick Skiller. Ian Steele and Nathan Beckett scored for the visitors.
The North Berks League Cup final will be between East Hendred Res and Bampton Town Res at on Saturday, April 24 at AFC Wallingford.
A Tyrone McGill hat-trick gave East Hendred Res a 3-0 victory over Didcot Casuals A at Drayton FC, while a Matt Sharp double and a Tom Madden strike earned Division 5 leaders Bampton Town Res a 3-1 win over Coleshill United Res at Shrivenham FC, with James Glock scoring for Coleshill.
Division 4 side Didcot Casuals Res reached the last four of the Nairne Paul Trophy after beating Division 3’s Harwell International Res on penalties, after a 4-4 draw.
Doubles for Dan Humphreys and Johnny Eudell for Harwell were cancelled out by Liam Corrigan (2), Jamie Dutton and Dan Knapp for Didcot.
Glyn McGiven hit the winning penalty to send Didcot and set up a clash with East Hendred Res.
A Paul Butler own goal saw Faringdon Town Res come back from two goals down to beat Benson Lions Res 3-2 in extra time and reach the semi-finals of the AG Kingham Cup.
A Richard Lumbard brace saw Benson go 2-0 up, only for goals from Glen Townsend and Brian Ferris ensured extra time. Then Butler put through his own net to send Faringdon through.
