Oxford Hawks Ladies failed to maintain last week’s standards as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Hampstead & Westminster in South Clubs’ League Division 1.
The winning goal came from a short corner after 20 minutes. It was a disappointing performance from Hawks, but they are still confident of securing a top-half place by the end of the season.
Rover Oxford couldn’t take any of the opportunities they had as they fell to a 5-0 defeat by Reading 1A, who were very sharp in the circle.
City of Oxford went down 4-3 at Division 3A leaders Wycombe. Kirsty Brammer, Christine Fraser, at a short corner, and Lisa Scragg got City’s goals.
Banbury left it late to claim a 3-2 win over West Hampstead.
Claire Armstrong levelled Hampstead’s opener, Natasha Nunneley scored a reverse stick goal and Lara Wilkinson converted a short corner to turn the game around.
West Witney were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw against Bracknell. On Sunday they then faced Sonning, where again they were held to a draw 3-3with Joy Mangazi scoring twice and Anna Kirk once.
Rover 2nd produced a good performance to beat Phoenix & Ranelagh 4-3 in Premier 1 of the Trysports 3 Counties League. Scorers were Lynn Cockshott (2), Shona Emm-anuel and Anisha Charania.
