Oxford United are today making a special ticket offer to their fans.
Supporters can buy a season ticket for next season at the same price they paid for this campaign – whichever league Oxford are going to be in.
The U’s say it’s a way of rewarding their loyal season ticket-holders.
It will obviously be a big carrot for the fans, because if United, top of the Blue Square Premier, do win promotion back to the Football League, as they hope, there would be an expectation of the prices being raised slightly ahead of next season.
But anyone booking next season’s seat before April 6 will be guaranteed to pay the same rate as this season.
Adult prices ranged from £223 in the Oxford Mail Stand to £370 in the South Upper Stand, depending on when they were bought.
United chairman Kelvin Thomas said: “The fans are the lifeblood of this club, and their effort has made such a difference to the team this year.
“With our great season ticket numbers and also the 12th Man fund, it is obvious the effect our fans have.
“This offer is to reward our loyal season ticket-holders (there are about 3,000) with the opportunity to get next year’s season ticket for the same price.
“It takes any guesswork out of thinking which league we are going to be in. It’s now just simple – it’s the same for both leagues.”
Season ticket holders also get priority for any big all-ticket matches, and there’s an added bonus, with those booking early getting an Oxford United Membership for half-price, with hundreds of savings and deals from shops, restaurants, hotels and companies.
From March 15 it will also be possible to renew online.
Season-ticket holder Dennis Thompson says he believes it is a great opportunity for supporters to back the club, while saving a bit of money at the same time.
The 77-year-old added that he would almost certainly make the most of the offer.
“I think it’s a great move by the club and something a lot of fans will consider doing,” he said.
