Berinsfield's Jordan Flynn bids for his second successive National Schoolboy crown tomorrow when he faces Sahir Iqbal in the Class 2 (under 14 years) 46 kg final at Brentwood, Essex.
Flynn (pictured) triumphed 12 months ago when he confidently outpointed Retford’s Hayden Rush, but this year’s opponent is likely to be a tougher proposition.
Iqbal is another protégé of Mick Jelly – the Bury ABC coach who guided Amir Khan to an Olympic silver medal.
Berinsfield chief coach Mel Corrigan has masterminded Flynn’s championship campaign and feels his boxer is even better prepared than 12 months ago.
He said: “Jordan is well aware of what it takes to gain a first title and he knows that it needs even more to capture a second.
“He has been a diligent and hard worker in the gym and has put in a tremendous effort on every step of this campaign.
“We have to be prepared for a hard clash against a determined and highly motivated opponent.”
