ALAN Manger, of New Club, retained the Oxford & District League’s Arthur Cook Cup, when he beat Oracle’s Gordon Cook 200-176 in the final at Eynsham Sports Club.
In the semi-finals, Manger beat Pom Merola, of Oracle, 200-182, while Cook beat Tom Fletcher, of Thame, 200-164.
In the league, Thame’s 3-0 win over HCC A took them to the top of Division 2, level with Riley B.
Peter Hawkes (+135) gained only his third win when he scraped past John Williams (+70) 150-148.
Williams, needing 27 to win, was on a 25 break before missing.
Alex Ruxton (+100) beat Terry Walsh (+100) 100-66 and then Nigel Bossom (+10) stormed to victory over the experiencd Doug Howse (+30), making a fine break of 51 to win 200-127.
CCC A returned to winning ways after a spell of seven successive defeats, beating Oracle 2-1, thanks to win from Terry Cook and Keith Pearce over Craig Pullen and Shaun Lewis respectively Results: Thame 3, HCCA 0; Oracle 1, CCC A 2; Fieldside 1, Riley A 2; CCC B 1, New Club 2; Riley B 2, Eynsham 1.
