A double substitution by Wantage manager Richie Bourne proved the key as his side strengthened their hold on second place in the Premier Division on Saturday (FTL Futbol Hellenic league).
Bourne introduced Richie Guy and Matty Horsell, The fresh legs of winger Horsell took him past Kidlington full back Chris Weedoand his perfectly delivered cross was met by Guy, whose powerful header gave Kidlington keeper Rob Hambling no chance The visitors’ cause had not been helped when Mark Baker was sent off in the 58th minute, following remarks made to the refereee.
Wantage nearly went behind early on with only Liam McCullough’s last-ditch tackle preventing Mark Baker from scoring.

Witney Utd 4 (Odhiambo 6, 22, Wickens 37, Bridges 88)
A double from Anaclet Odihambo and further goals from Gary Wickens and Ricky Bridges were enough to give Witney a comfortable victory at improving Bicester.
Hook Norton 2 (Buckwell 22, Moulder 81)
Fairford Tn 1 (Griffiths 70)
Hook Norton continued their brave fight against relegation when they beat Fairford with a late goal.
Fielding new signing Mark Muddyman, Hooky took the lead midway through the first half, when skipper Dave Buckwell nudged home from James Robbins’s corner.
In the second half, a defence-splitting pass sent Pete Griffiths on his way to beat home keeper Joe White to equalise.
But Hooky secured the points when Robbins’s left-wing cross was netted by Pete Moulder.
Ardley Utd 0
Highworth 1 (Bennett 21)
Ardley United lost in a mid-table at home to Highworth.
The only goal came from Matt Bennett midway through the first half.
Witney were soon in front as Chris Harper set up Odihambo, who raced through and clipped it over Jeff Simmonds.
Midway through the half, they doubled their advantage thro-ugh Odihambo, who beat Simmonds to Jack Smith’s lofted pass.
The game was killed off seven minutes before the break when a Tom Butler free-kick was met by Gary Wickens, who sent a looping header into the net.
The scoring was rounded off two minutes from time when Andrew Styles held off two challenges and roll it into the path of Bridges.
