BERINSFIELD’S 2009 National Schoolboy champion Jordan Flynn enters the quarter-final stages of this year’s title trail at Sittingbourne in Kent on Saturday afternoon.
The youngster faces Joe McNulty from the Stacey gym in Portsmouth for a place in the last four of the Class 2 (under 14 years) 46kg category.
Flynn is joined by two other Oxfordshire contenders in the Class 3 (under 15 years) division.
Oxford Boxing Academy’s Bradley Townsend faces Louis Murphy from Woking at 52kg and Berinsfield’s Liam Joseph tackles Jack Bennett of the Broad Plain gym in Bristol at 54 kg (bantamweight).
Meanwhile, the opening round of this year’s National Association of Clubs for Young People championships (previously known as the Boys Clubs competition) gets under way at the Berinsfield gym in Fane Drive on Sunday afternoon.
In the youngest category (Class A), Will Healy competes at 52kg and Josh Lock is entered at 58kg.
Lightweight Tom McDonagh completes the Berinsfield as he starts his campaign in the Class C 60kg category.
The first bout gets under way at 1.30 pm and admission is £10 with concessions available.
