Flood Watches on our rivers were on and off like a light bulb last week, writes ANDY WEBBER.
They were lifted in time to fish last Sunday, but by then it was a bit late and few pleasure anglers ventured out.
As I write, rivers are still pretty full, but stillwaters around the county are worth visiting, despite the cold weather.
Local angler Eamonn Deeley, from Cowley, proved the point when he headed for an undisclosed pit for some pike fishing.
On Saturday, he fished freelined mackerel and landed a big pike of 24.8.0, and he went back the next day to capture two more weighing 20.10.0 and 16.8.0.
Eamonn used 15lb mainline, 30lb trace and size 8 hooks.
Yes, it IS hard at the moment, but there are fish out there waiting to be caught.
I just think you need to pick the right conditions, and go with an open mind.
