Witney United boss Andy Lyne has vowed to stay on despite a second budget cut at the Polythene UK Stadium.

Chairman Steve Lake said: “It was a tough decision to cut the playing budget, because of rising overheads and a downturn in function room bookings.

“Andy and his team have worked tirelessly to provide top football for Witney, and this decision will have made his job harder.”

Although frustrated by the decision, Lyne said: “The players’ commitment has been superb. They agreed to the budget cut in the summer, and now we’ve had another cut to basic expenses.

“A lot of time and effort goes into building a successful team. When things like this occur, that puts that at risk.

“But I have been pleased by the players’ response. They believe that we are capable of winning something.

“It’s because of the players’ response, and loyalty to them and the supporters that I want to stay and finish the job.”

John McMahon (banned) and JP Mills miss Saturday’s trip to Bicester Town.

Kidlington are without Luke Holden, Jimmy Deabill, James Philpott and Darren McNamara at home to Wantage Town.

Jack Quainton, Kieran San-ders, Mark Flanagan, Tom McNamara, Ben Willoughby and Lee Rendell face tests.

Clanfield welcome back Rob Coules from a ski-ing trip when they host Headington Amateurs in Division 1 West.

They are without Ben Acock and Chris Hunt (both ski-ing) and Pete Osborne (work).
