OXFORD City’s Hawtin sisters achieved fantastic podium finishes in the South of England Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill Fields, London.
There were individual bronze medals for Beth and Melissa, while Lauren led home the under 15 girls to a very unexpected team bronze.
First off was youngest sister Beth Hawtin in the under 13 girls’ race over 3km.
And she battled to an excellent third place just four seconds beind winner Becca Croft, clocking 12mins 34secs.
Next home for City was Storm Sunderland in 53rd, and with Elisha Evans, Beth Mulvany and Mya Walker also in form, City finished a respectable ninth out of 26 teams.
City’s under 15 girls were next to tackle the hilly course over 4km, and Lauren Hawtin led home the team in fifth place in 15.16.
Imogen Kempton was 21st, Rebecca Byren 43rd and Elissa Clark 54th as the girls grabbed the bronze medal.
In the under 17 girls’ race, Melissa Hawtin did not disappoint.
Leaving three England internationals, Ruth Hayes, Emily Wallbank and Melissa Courtney in her wake, Melissa raced home for bronze in 19.30 over the 5km course.
Jade Walker crossed the line 33rd and Ellie Burns 47th.
In the boys’ competition, Radley’s Christian von Eitzen secured a superb bronze in the under 13 boys’ race over 3km.
Von Eitzen clocked 11.27 - finishing only six seconds off the pace of winner Tom Newnham (Isle of Wight).
Oxford City duo Josh Tack and Matthieu Marshall finished 51st and 60th in the under 15 boys’ race over 4500m.
Tack clocked 17.19 and Marshall 17.29, while Ben Upjohn finished seven seconds further back in 70th.
James Cody and Ryan Meredith represented City in the under 17 men’s race over 6km, Meredith finishing 111th in 24.18 and Cody clocking 25.06 for 132nd.
