Oxford Hawks are on one hell of a run!

For the second week in a row, lowly Hawks beat the top-of-the-table team on their travels.

This time it was Gore Court, and Steve Collier bagged a brace in the 4-3 Premier Division 2 win.

They fell behind to a penalty stroke, given away by a silly mistake.

But after stern words from the coach at half-time, they struck two minutes after the restart with Collier scoring an excellent individual goal.

He beat several players before firing in, reverse-stick, into the bottom corner.

This gave Hawks a big lift and they went in front when Sam Chilvers scored after robbing a defender.

Soon after, Ed Hutley and Dan Money saved amazingly off the line when it looked like Gore Court would equalise.

However, the scores were soon level when Gore Court scored a dubious goal after a player clearly kicked the ball in the build-up.

Hawks replied immediately as Chris Debney tapped in at the far post.

Hawks were reduced to ten men twice when Nick Lamb was dismissed on two separate occasions.

The game was not over and Gore Court made it 3-3, but with four minutes to go, in a goalmouth scramble, Nick Ferraby rolled the ball unselfishly for Collier to tap in at the far post.

In Premier Division 1, Staines left their mark on Banbury with a 2-1 victory.

Staines drew first blood as Sajad Khan slotted past Chris Boyle at the far post.

Banbury equalised when Richard Foreman slammed home a right-wing cross.

Staines’ winner came when a penalty-corner strike was not cleared from the pads of Chris Boyle and Ryan Wilson bundled the ball over the line.

Adam Jordan slammed four goals in Oxford University’s 6-2 win at bottom club Ashford (Middlesex). Alex Bevan and James Ramsay also scored.

Wallingford were hammered 7-2 at Slough in Regional 1, with Slough’s Mo Ali hitting a hat-trick.

City of Oxford stay second in Division 1 thanks to an 8-0 drubbing of Henley 2nd. Charlie de Burgh and Richard Harding both hit hat-tricks.

Andy Small got City of Oxford’s other two goals.

Witney remain top of Division 2 after the big promotion battle between first and third in the division against Abingdon at Wood Green School.

Abingdon raced into a two-goal lead.

Owen Blackburn tucked the ball under the advancing goalkeeper from the edge of the circle after Ron Smith’s quickly- taken free hit caught Witney’s defence napping.

Ten minutes later, Abingdon went two up. Andy Ringsell’s ball into the circle was deflected home from close range by Smith.

But Witney re-grouped after the break and Francois Clavaud pulled one back.

Then, 15 minutes from time, Tim Hardy sent an unstoppable drag flick into the roof of the net to make it 2-2.

City of Oxford Bulls were involved in one of their best matches for years as they battled out an exciting 5-5 draw at Guildford in Division 1 of the Wessex Masters League.

Guildford had an England Vets player who was very useful, but City battled to a draw, despite going down to ten men.
