Simon Hole has rejoined Shipton-under-Wychwood as captain to spearhead their push for the Home Counties Premier League.
The 26-year-old top-order batsman left the club in 2006 to play for Oxford and then moved to Banbury, where he was also head groundsman.
But he is happy to be back after being confirmed in the role at the MP Sports Cherwell League Club’s AGM.
Shipton chairman Stephen Brain said: “The appointment of Simon means we have a young captain who will hopefully attract quality players to come and join the club in our push for promotion into the Home Counties League.
“We also have a new Nursery Ground, which will improve our facilities greatly, meaning we can hold third XI and juniors games at Shipton this season.”
Shipton will begin their indoor net sessions on Sunday, February 7 from 6-7pm at Radley College.
