Former England fast bowler Alex Tudor has turned down the offer to play for Oxfordshire.
The 32-year-old had been offered a player-coach role by the Minor Counties side following his release by Surrey.
“Long deliberation and thought went into the decision,” he said. “The travelling was just going to be too much.
“I'm going to be playing club cricket in Nottingham on Saturday and the games for Oxfordshire start on Sunday. A lot of those are in the West Country.”
He added: “Something closer to home has come to fruition for the earlier part of the week which means I can spend more time with my daughter.
“The decision I came to wasn't easy. Speaking to the Oxfordshire committee they were obviously very keen, but I will have to decline.”
Tudor played ten Tests for England between 1998 and 2002, but saw his career blighted by a string of injuries.
As a bowler he took 220 first-class wickets at an average of 28.41 during two spells at Surrey.
