Girls from St Helen & St Katharine, Abingdon reeled off a hat-trick of titles at the Vale of White Horse Schools’ Cross Country Championships at Radley College.
Zoe Ten set the ball rolling with victory in the under 13 girls’ race, coming home ahead of European, Culham duo Rachel Sladden and Lisa Montagnon.
Imogen Kempton led home a one-two for St Helen & St Katharine at under 17, beating schoolmate Cordelia Parker.
And Gemma Bridge completed the treble in the under 19 girls’ race, with victory from Jenny Sutherland (John Mason, Abingdon).
Becky James (Our Ladys, Abingdon) took the honours at under 15, crossing the line ahead of Sophie Lloyd (King Alfred’s, Wantage).
Not surprisingly, St Helen & St Katharine won the team aggregate title.
Abingdon School were the dominant force in the boys’ races, with Thomas Watkins and Alistair Duff giving them a double success.
Watkins led home an Abingdon clean sweep at under 19, turning the tables on his conqueror Alex Muir at last year’s county championships, with teammate Joe Kempton back in third.
Abingdon also enjoyed a one-two-three at under 17, with Alistair Duff leading home Stuart Jones and Luke Terry.
There was another clean sweep with European ruling supreme at under 15, with Christian van Etzen storming home from teammates Toby Arup and Conrad Deer.
King Alfred’s Ben Claridge triumphed in the under 13 race, claiming victory ahead of Abingdon duo Michael Faber and James Bourden.
Wins in the under 13, 17 and 19 team races saw Abingdon capture the Milton Trophy for the aggregate team competition.
