Andy Benwell then beat James Griffin 70-50, 68-28 and Steve Benwell completed the rout with a 38-28, 70-13 victory against Roger Tomlin.

Thame A won 5-2 at Eynsham B.

Dan Brooks put Eynsham ahead after beating Darren Howard 68-52, but Howard hit back to claim the second 78-47.

John Ayres (Eynsham) and Anwar Mahmood also traded frames. Ayres took the first 97-51 before a break of 48 helped Mahmood snatch the second 71-69 on the black.

Brian Elve beat Kevin Truby 69-41, 60-34 in the other two frames to give Eynsham victory.

In the Sherlock Cup the most exciting match was between Westcott A, from Division 4, and House Club A, from the section above.

Westcott edged it 4-3, the crucial point coming on aggregate.

The crucial wins came from Matt Taylor, who beat Brian Field 75-34 and 72-33.

Those scores put Westcott 3-2 ahead with one match to play, and although House Club’s Tony Nicholls beat Andy Huxley, he did not manage the 80-point winning margin he needed.

The other matches were more one-sided, with Riley G, Cowley Workers A, Eynsham C and Cowley Conservative A going through.

Eynsham were given a helping hand with Yarnton RBL only able to field two players.

James Kerr beat Mick Aust 52-42, 68-20 and Eric Pratt saw off John Parsons 66-29, 61-40.
