Witney got the year off to a flying start after their A team finished second at the Linslade Gala.

Despite being beaten by old rivals Maxwell, there were a host of encouraging performances.

Ten-year-old Imogen Pitson won the girls’ 11 & under breaststroke to claim the club’s swimmer-of-the-match award.

The runners-up vote was shared between ten-year-old Larissa Dalgarno, winner of the 11 & under girls’ backstroke and men’s captain James Bark, who won the open butterfly.

Witney B also produced some impressive displays, with Lauren Cummings, ten, claiming the runners-up spot in the girls’ 11 & under breaststroke to earn the B team swimmer-of-the-match award.

Final result: 1 Maxwell 267pts, 2 Witney A 237, 3 Wellingborough 173, 4 Linslade 172, 5 Witney B 132.
