Alan Green bagged a four-timer as Ken Forshee’s reign as Oxford City Stars player-coach began with a 12-3 thrashing of Streatham Redskins in Division 1.
Forshee grabbed a double himself, as did man-of-the-match Joe Edwards, with the visitors scoring eight goals without reply after being pegged back to 4-3.
Captain Darren Elliott put Oxford ahead in the ninth minute and Edwards’s first made it 2-0 at the interval.
Having set up the first two goals, Forshee scored himself, but Peter Molnar and Russell Stevens reduced the arrears.
Shannon Taylor netted a fourth for Stars before Molnar pulled another one back.
Oxford then smashed another five in the second period, with Green bagging a treble, plus Edwards and Forsee completing braces.
Stars eased home in the third period, with Dax Hedges, Green and Dean Francis on target.
- Oxford City Midnight Stars, the club’s ladies’ team, defeated Peterborough 3-0 in Midlands Division 1.
Netminder Bev Kollond had her first shut-out of the season, while hosts Oxford had 64 shots on the other goal.
Amy Hadden, Maria Weiss and Sarah Poulter scored.
