Oxford Harlequins director of rugby John Brodley had mixed feelings after his side’s 36-22 defeat to Old Patesians.
“Overall, we played really well, but their forwards won the day,” said Brodley.
“It is a lesson to be learned. There are times when you need to play a bit slower and wait for your opportunities.
“We knew how they were going to play and practiced defending against it, but at the end of the day it has paid dividends for them.
“It was just very disappointing to lose the second bonus point.”
Brodley added: “We defended quite well because they had a lot of possession and territory and the tries we scored were high quality.
“The pressure and attrition from their forwards told in the end. We couldn’t find any chinks in their forward play.
“Considering we had about 30 per cent of the possession we looked dangerous with the ball.”
