Oxford United have this morning put out a plea for volunteers to come and clear the snow at the Kassam Stadium to try to get tomorrow night's FA Trophy game on against Woking.
They say that, with the improving temperatures and the lack of the heavy predicted snowfall at the ground, the club and stadium company are working hard to give the cup-tie, postponed from last Saturday, every chance of getting the go-ahead.
"We have been advised by the ground staff that there is a chance of the pitch being playable but we must remove the remaining snow from the pitch and surrounding areas of the stadium to enable the game to go ahead safely," United stated.
The club are asking for any help from fans who can help in clearing the pitch or the surrounding areas. Any manual help plus anyone with additional resources such as JCBs, snowploughs and mechanical equipment will be greatly appreciated.
Supporters should bring shovels and wheelbarrows if possible and report to reception.
